This page is dedicated to children who, through programs in their school or library, or even on the initiative of an entire village, have worked and created around the Banner of Peace.

Children don't have the filters of adults, they don't ask themselves as many questions, they are and feel when it's right and good.

Children are our future. These caring actions reflect their thoughts and stance on Peace.

Their participation adds to all the original ideas we've received, and shows everyone's real enthusiasm for peace rather than war, for light and serenity.

A big thank you to everyone for all these great initiatives!

They demonstrate the ability of human beings to come up with ideas and co-create in peace and respect.

Well done everyone, and thank you for sharing your adventure with the Peace Banner!

AFTER THE EVENT

Many thanks to the Communes of Bastide des Jourdans and Calvi Dell'Umbria for their Peace Day and the Peace Banner!

Clearly, the day went very well, and was accompanied by beautiful sunshine even though the weather forecast did not predict it (perhaps a sign from the universe that welcomes this initiative).

Their feedback on the day shows that it was much more than just a day of festivities:

"There are no words powerful enough to describe the particularly warm emotion of this day dedicated to PEACE.... OUR PEACE!

Together, the municipality, the school, the associations, the local residents and our Italian friends, we have co-created some wonderful energies of Friendship, Joy and, above all, Sharing, which we need so much in these rather gloomy times."

We salute the initiative, the open-mindedness and the ability of all these beautiful souls to come together on a universal theme that should be taught in schools: PEACE.

UPDATE

A big thank you to the Commune of Bastide des Jourdans who, inspired by our operation around the Banner of Peace, decided to create its own event this Sunday, March 26, 2023 with the program of this day:

- Peace, Friendship and Fraternity Walk with reading breaks around La Bastide des Jourdans

- Meeting on the square in conjunction with Calvi Dell'Umbria in Italy

- A shared aperitif

- Videoconference with the town of Calvi Dell'Umbria to discuss the day's activities

We would like to thank the Mayors of the 2 towns who immediately agreed to create a joint project around the theme of Peace, and all the associations who joined in with their support and participation.

At last, a promising sign of the ability of human beings to look beyond their differences and work together on universal principles.

TESTIMONIAL

While we're waiting for the flags, I've put up the Peace banner in my village library, where I'm on duty on Wednesday afternoons.

I suggested to the president (who was very enthusiastic about the idea) that we set up a whole range of activities (reading, creative workshops, philosophical debates, which have already been running for 4 years with CM1CM2 students, and perhaps even mini-conferences ON THE THEME OF PEACE under the aegis of this beautiful Banner.

I'm very, very happy with the way this project has turned out...

Here is an outline of the project:

" The Banner of Peace at La Bastide des Jourdans "
Through the intermediary of several village associations, the school
primary school and the Centre Forestier, we're going to explain
the meaning and role of the Symbol in promoting the expansion and protection of Culture in the broadest sense of the term.
To date, the theme has been addressed in concrete terms by :

LIBRARY ASSOCIATION :

- Books, Reading and mini-philosophy workshops (we have an excellent children's storyteller, who has already started with the toddlers with short stories on tolerance and peace).

ASSO TRAVAUX MANUELS CTB :

- To encourage members, and others in the future, to create their own
feel an object, a drawing, etc. related to Peace

FOREST SCHOOL :

- Intervention in classes taught by the history teacher
geo will have chosen to debate with the students( we had intervened in 2018 and 2019 with 4e, 2nde and terminale on the subject of immigration and racism ).
A conference on Italian immigration from the 19th to the 20th century was held in the village with Mr Stéphane MOURLANE (Senior Lecturer in Contemporary History) to demonstrate the similarities in behavior with successive waves of immigration up to the present day.

TWINNING COMMITTEE :

- I place particular emphasis on this association, because for the past twenty years it has been forging ties of friendship and exchange with the Italian commune of CALVI DELL'UMBRIA. Every year, we receive families on an alternating basis, to discover our respective traditional, linguistic, festive, artistic, family and culinary heritages, etc. What an enriching experience!

Our differences are our wealth, our similarities bring us closer together and banish preconceptions.

Depuis 2023, la commune de la Bastide des Jourdans organise, chaque année, une journée autour du thème de la Paix. Une magnifique occasion de réunir toutes et tous, peu importe l’âge, autour d’un concept universel qu’est la Paix. Un exemple qui devrait être suivi par toutes les écoles et les mairies de France et d’ailleurs…
